2018 & The Crowded Gym!
2018 is quickly approaching, the gyms will be full!
You'll see Billy Bob yanking on the lat pull down bar and Suzie Que trying to balance on a Bosu right where the set of weights are that you need. Tommy Two Thumbs will be texting away while sitting at the leg extension machine and the group of moms will be having their daily gossip session at the smith machine.
One thing to remember is that we all started as a beginner, a little unsure of what to do in the gym but started with the best intentions.
Its fantastic that so many people start the new year on the right foot, back to the gym....maybe even for the 1st time ever, and setting up to be successful with their new healthy nutrition habits. Every single person that takes on this "New Me" attitude, genuinely wants to make this a lifestyle change. It can be extremely intimidating walking into a gym for the 1st time and not really knowing what to do or how to do it.
Why do so many people fall off the fitness wagon? Could be due to lack of knowledge, being intimidated or not seeing results fast enough. Being fit takes work, both physically and mentally. There are a number of reasons why many people do not stay on track. Wouldn't it be awesome if more people did stay on track and transform their lives into a better, healthier version of themselves?
So when you see a new person in the gym, keep in mind that they want to change, they want to be better. Don't make them feel unwelcome, help them if you can. Even a welcoming smile or hello can really make a difference in someones life. I remember every person that has been nice and helped me a long my journey, I also remember the ones that said I wouldn't stick with it for long, Now 6 years later, many ask me for advice.
Remember this.....you never know who may be looking at you for ideas, help and advice. You never know who you are inspiring.
For those of you that are starting back at the gym after the new year or planning to start going for the 1st time, don't be afraid to ask for help, many of us would love to help.
